Volvo S80

Actually, I’m interested to review about this car after the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X had been approved to be used for the police forces. Many people had given the different opinion about that topic and it is really interesting because some think that this is the first time the Malaysian Police Forces has used a performance car. Actually, they already have the Volvo S80 in their disposal but only used for escorting the VVIP. Quite a shame, right? So, let’s review this Volvo S80.

The Volvo S80 using the 2.8L Bi-Turbo inline-6 engine assisted by DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder valvetrain. This engine produce the maximum power of 272 bhp @ 5400 RPM and maximum torque of 280.3 lbs.ft @ 2100-5000 RPM. This output from under the hood transferred by the 4-speed automatic transmssion and the front wheel drive configuration.

The big engine is useless for a car if it cannot performed good on the track. This 2.8L Volvo S80 can reach the top speed of 155.3 mph while it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 7 seconds. Maybe it is not too good for a performance car but it is just too good for a sedan class car. The top speed of the Volvo S80 is also on the par with the new Lancer Evolution X. Let’s look at the shape of this car and you can tell whether you have ever seen this car with the police force stripe. I has seen it once on the way to watch the Formula 1 in Sepang.
