Hybrid car actually is the combining of the gasoline and electric power system under the car’s hood. The gasoline-powered engine is the conventional engine in most of the cars right now. The electric-powered car has a set of batteries that provide electricity to an electric motor that will turn the transmission and also the wheels. The reducing of the engine’s size make the car more lighter. In addition a reduction of the number of cylinder per engine makes the car more lighter due to the weight of the engine block, piston and another components. So, the power required to move the car will be reduced. Also, a small engine means small displacement of the cylinder or frequently used, cubic capacity (cc) and less number of cylinder per engine. The reducing of both this element means for a power cycle, less fuel required to complete a power cycle and actually it will greatly benefit in terms of fuel consumption. Also, less fuel means less pollutant to the environment.
If this hybrid car has advantages, of course it has the disadvantage. The usage of small engine will reduce the top speed of the car at high RPM and also the acceleration of the car. The installation of the electric motor and batteries also means the increasing of cost for both this components and wiring system. Also, the reducing of the engine’s weight will be increase by the weight of the electric motor and batteries.
