Dynamometer, source for measuring power
August 30th, 2009 zzariziHi..
Do you know what is Dynamometer??
A dynamometer or “dyno” is a device for measuring force or power. For example, the power produced by an engine, motor or other rotating prime mover can be calculated by simultaneously measuring torque and rotational speed (rpm).
If you want to know the horsepower of an engine, you hook the engine up to a dynamometer. A dynamometer places a load on the engine and measures the amount of power that the engine can produce against the load.
Sensors on the dynamometer measure engine speed and torque. Knowing these values, the dynamometer can be used to calculate engine-power output. Dynamometers allow us to reproduce a desired speed or torque for a test under controlled conditions.
Dynamometers use different methods to induce a braking force on the device under test.
