Bugatti Type 57S Atalante

Today, when I read the newspaper, a news had attract me. An old car had been sold at an auction in Paris for euro 3.4 million. What’s so special about this old car that it had the prices over euro 1 million? That car is the Bugatti Type 57S Atalante that had been abandoned in a garage in Britain for half a century. Let’s look at why this car so special especially for the old car’s collectors.
Bugatti Type 57S Atalante had been powered by the 3.3L inline-8 front longitudinal engine. To increase the power of this car, a roots-type supercharger had been installed and the engine had been assisted with the DOHC, 2 valves per cylinder valve train. This car can boost about 210 bhp @ 5500 RPM. To transfer the power to the rear wheel, the 4-speed manual transmission had been used on this car.
To ensure the ride comfort and handling for this car, the beam axle with Semi-Elliptic Leaf Spring had been used at the front while the suspension at the rear is live axle with Reversed Quarter-Elliptic Leaf Spring.
On the track, this old car can reach the top speed 130.5 mph (210 kph) while it can accelerate 0-60 mph in 10.0 seconds. It is amazing for a car that had been built in 1936 because in that time, most other cars topped out about 50 mph (80 kph). Let’s look at the shape of this car.
